Welcome
Dear Expectant Parent,
Thank you for contributing to the New World Baby Study. Your reflection helps us better understand how sound, breath, and intentional moments of calm are experienced during pregnancy.
As a thank you, we offer this guide.
It is simple. Grounded. Meant to be used, not admired.
Take a breath.
Soften your shoulders.
Let this be a small pause in your day.
Why Relaxation Matters
Pregnancy is both powerful and demanding.
Your body is constantly adapting. Your nervous system is processing more than usual.
Relaxation is not indulgence. It is support.
When you regulate, your baby experiences that regulation too.
Relaxation can:
– reduce stress and mental tension
– support deeper sleep
– prepare your body for birth
– strengthen emotional connection
Even a few minutes make a difference.
Consistency matters more than duration.
Breathe - Your Calm Anchor
Your breath is always available. It is one of the fastest ways to signal safety to your nervous system.
Even one conscious breath can shift your state.
4–7–8 Breathing
Sit or lie down comfortably. Close your eyes if that feels natural.
Soften your jaw. Drop your shoulders.
Inhale gently through your nose for 4 counts, allowing your belly to rise.
Hold for 7 counts, without strain.
Exhale slowly through your mouth for 8 counts.
Repeat for 3–5 cycles.
If it feels awkward at first, that’s normal. With practice, it becomes familiar.
Familiar breath builds familiar calm.
Your Peaceful Sanctuary
Visualization helps your nervous system access safety through imagination.
You are not escaping reality.
You are practicing internal steadiness.
Find a quiet moment and close your eyes.
Let your body soften from your feet upward.
Imagine a place where you feel at ease. A beach. A meadow. A quiet forest.
Notice light. Temperature. Sound.
Place your hand on your belly.
Imagine your baby resting safely within this calm environment. Connected. Steady.
Stay as long as you like.
This space is always available to you.
Empowering Affirmations
Affirmations are simple statements that guide attention.
Choose one or two. Repeat them slowly. Let them feel believable.
I am calm.
My baby feels my love.
I trust my body and its wisdom.
My baby and I are deeply connected.
Each day, I grow in steadiness and strength.
I am supported.
Let the words land softly.
You do not need to force belief.
Repetition creates familiarity. Familiarity creates trust.
Presence does not need to be perfect.
It only needs to be practiced.
Thank you for practicing with us.
With care,
